Yes, Week One Down….

How many more days do I have?  Oh, I think it is 83.  Whew!  I just finished my legs and back routine, followed by the Ab Ripper X of my back in the saddle with Power 90X.  Holy shoot.  My hip flexors were so tired from the legs that I actually had to take a break on a few of those.  Oh well, I will get better at them.  I am looking forward to week number 2.  Then, again, I am not really.  I will stick with it though.  I am not going to let those whipper snappers get the best of me next semester.  I think I will make them do some of these exercises but just not tell them where it comes from.  I will let them know after the semester ends. 

I fell pretty good.  I could use a nice massage.  By the way, most of you athletes need to get a really good massage to release toxins and help bring in more oxygen to help repair the muscles.  It will improve performance and just darn right feels great.  I am so knotted up right now I could probably have a blanket made. 

Okay, Tony, I am ready for number 2.  Bring it.  Everyone else, just hope I last past week 4.  That is my goal this time.  Once I make it pass that I should be fine. 

I think I will make my classes do Circuit tomorrow so that i can recover.  :) 

Shoulders & Arms MIA

About a month ago when I decided to get back on track with my Power 90X I realized that I did not have my Shoulders and Arms DVD.  Oh what a pity.  I guess I will have to look for it and then start the next week.  :)  I searched and searched, the house was torn upside down, I guess I should really have cleaned the house instead of trashing it looking for this DVD. 

Well, I finally after about 3 weeks broke down and e-mail Beach Body to see if I could get a replacement.  I was in luck I could.  They normally don’t do that, but since I had already had the program and of course could not remember when I purchased it they said I could replace it for a fee, of course.  Okay, the cost was not a problem.  Just did not feel right knowing that I did not have all the DVD’s there when I actually started the program.  I get on the phone and what do you know, I was in luck, since I am a Million Dollar Body Coach I could get the DVD at the coach’s price.  Yes. 

So, I started the program hoping the DVD would come in in time when I actually had to do it.  Well, I rearranged the program slightly so I could do the Shoulders and Arms when it came it.  I have been so extremely busy this week.  It never fails. 

Last night, I thought I would give one more search to find the DVD.  I know I put it somewhere safe and so it would not get scratched.  I hate that.  Yes, I found it in one of my Yoga CD case.  Can you believe it.  I knew that would happen. 

Shoulders and ArmsGuess what came in the mail today?  You got it!  My Shoulders and Arms DVD.  Now I have two of those and TWO of Power and Grace Body Bar DVD.  I did the same thing to that one too.  Well, I got down to the fitness Conference in Dallas.  Dallasmania where Fitness Professionals go to learn.  I could not remember if I bought that one or not.  I was sure I did, but I again had misplaced it .  I get home and wal-la!  I find it.

Have I worked out today on Shoulders and Arms?  NO!  Urgh, been busy doing other stuff, like measuring for blinds, installing blinds, turning in details, letting the weather man’s dog out to go tinkle, shopping for groceries and now I have to go teach Step with Salsa.  Then I have to go do my Turbo Kick Cardio at the studio and then teach class doing legs with this group.  By the way, the legs are a little sore in the hamstring.  I should be Okay for tomorrow.  Thanks for asking.  HA!

Shakin it Up:)

I love a great workout.  Sometimes instructors get caught in a rut.  I really try and mix it up for my two groups with my Body Chizel.  Well, I bought a new DVD from Cathe.  I have several of her Step Dvd’s and other Dvd’s like the Core Max and something else I can’t seem to remember.  Anyhow, she is right up there with Mindy Mylrea.  Both of them have just gone off the deep end I tell you.  Anyhow, I purchased this awesome DVD that targets the upper body and the lower body in two different segments.  I wanted to really get these ladies shakin up.  Try out some different exercises.  Well, we really started kind of light in my opinion but I did give them that option so that I hoped they would be sore but not too sore and they could gage on where they are at.  That did the trick. 

You know, why is it that when you as an instructor really want to change things up, that all of a sudden you have a wave of new people trying out the class.  Well, I surely did not have a wave of new people, more like one person decided to come on leg day.  What?  Well, hang in there honey, we are doing this routine anyhow. 

I have told you a little bit about me starting up my Power 90X system again. Well, I will get to that later on this week after I finish week one.  Anyhow, I have been trying to fit this in with all the classes I teach.  I have to tell you though, my legs are going to not work for me in the morning. I have this feelin in them, usually I get this feeling after a great leg workout.  You know I have not had one of these in a while.  Well, I take that back, I remember now, when we were on the Corpus Christi family vacation, I seemed to have a problem with them then.  Well then, I have a feeling it is going to be worse, because I did not have this feeling back then and they hurt like crazy when I was trying to walk down the steps.

Back to the class.  I managed to let them know that I was doing a double duty and that what I am using do not gage on what they should be using because I will have to teach this format again later in the evening. You know my class has managed to call Mondays, Moaning Mondays and Wednesday is Whining Wednesday and they were doing that today.  I love to hear them Whine.  We all were whining today i have to say.  I had them even counting down, how great it that.  i just love those ladies.  They are awesome and they look great too.  Some sexy ladies I have.

After all of that, I did manage to get the lady to sign up for classes and she wants to get her daughter to sign up too.  Things are differently getting there and no worries.  The big man upstairs is in total control.  I left everything up to him.  I am just his servant.

 

Power 90X Again! :)

Last year I became a Million Dollar Body Coach.  Why? Well, the are the ones who with BeachBody have an online workout in which you could win daily prizes, i.e. ipod, vcr,dvd and much more.  I bought the starter package which came with HIP HOP ABS with Sean T, Turbo Jam with Chalene Johnson (awesome), Yoga Booty Ballet, (jury still out on this one), Slim in 6 and the beast of them all POWER 90X.  This workout will put the best shape person to shame.

Last year, I got all excited and wanted to try it out.  I recently had received my certification in Turbo Kick and had been doing that for a while.  I had been teaching step and a whole bunch of stuff at the colleges as well.  I thought I was in great shape.  So, I thought to myself, what the heck I will give it a go.  Can someone please tell me how crazy stupid I was. 

The Power 90X comes with it’s own book of different eating plans.  It comes with a book on all the programs you can do.  Okay, 3 programs in all.  You are suppose to keep up with the program for 90 days and Tony guarantees that you will be ripped by the end.  I have no doubt. 

I started with the classic workout.  I actually stuck with it for 3 weeks when on the 4th week, Tony gives you a break.  But not really.  The exercises he claims are light.  Right Tony.  So, since I had been doing my fitness classes at 2 colleges a total of 5 classes plus all the classes at the studio, I thought I should give my body a whole week off from the Power 90x.  Big mistake!  Well, just like normal people, I put it off and put if off because I knew the program was extremely difficult for me.  So, why in the world would I want to go back to it.  Well, I didn’t  Just like I say “A year from now you’ll wish you had started today.”  I am back in the saddle and actually have given my self a deadline to get those abs showing again.  I have to do it for the kids.

I have completed day two and it freakin wore my butt out.  Again, I am thinking what they heck am I putting myself though this torture.  A good torture though.  I will keep you posted on my progress.  Let’s see if I can make it pass week 4.

I love Tony so much and he is a great motivator that I have actually signed up for his one on one.  I totally wish I could go to California to meet him.   Someday.

No Equipment Necessary Cont….

I am back from the workshop.  I have to say that I really enjoyed it.  There were only 5 of us and I enjoy the workshops more when there is less people.  You get a little more attention.  I give my shout out to Jules Benson.  She is such a sweet person.  We had a great time. 

I know you are probably wondering what kind of exercises can you do without any equipment.  Let me tell you that not only did we get a cardio workout but we did so many push-ups it was crazy.  I think Jules mentioned by the time we got done it was like 64 of those aweful things.  I hate push-ups.  I can do them, just not at tempo.  My shoulder is all whack out and my chip of bone in my hand makes it difficult but I do them.

Here is a picture of the group.  Really nice people too.  Very talkative and had some ideas too.  I would like to go back to Energy Fitness and take a class or two with some of the instructors.  it would be fun.

 

What we did was some exercises with a towel.  We did five sequences and by the second sequence I was breaking a sweat, well, to tell you the truth I was busting a sweat on warm-up.  :)  I hate the summer, because I get so lazy, at my age I can’t afford to slow down.  The weight just packs on like bees to honey.:)

All the exercises we performed with was just with a towel.  I have to say that towel gets very heavy towards the end.  Again, I hate push-ups.

No Equipment Workshop :)

Going to Fort Worth today to check out a fitness workshop on exercises with no equipment.  It is true that you can get a great workout without using any equipment.  It will take body weight and concentration and I am sure it will be fun.

I am excited about going.  I love meeting new people too. I haven’t been to a great workshop in a year or so.  I do plan however, to attend the DallasMania this year.  Well, one reason for attending is to get my CEU’s that I need to keep my certifications current.  Very important not to let them expire.  Two, i just like to see what is out there.  I feel like I live in a bubble and everyone is doing the same thing and not trying to change anything like their workouts.  When I teach my classes for the studio or my college classes I like to give the students a variety of things to do and try at home.  The body needs change.  So, I will report back on what I learned. 

 

Turbo Kick…Kick my butt:)

So, I mentioned that I am a fitness instructor.  I have to tell you that I am in pretty good shape.  I teach so many classes, which for the summer is getting to me and I am at my slow time.

I received my certification in Turbo Kick back in December of 2006 and I totally went crazy.  I love it!  It is the most awesome workout ever.  I teach it at the local universities.  Well, during the summer I don’t teach at the Universities therefore I don’t get my Turbo like I should.  I have been feeling just unmotiviated lately you all.  I need a competition or something to kick my booty into gear.  What?  I have a very good friend who teaches the Turbo for me and she is really good.  She loves to teach the Turbo so I let her. 

Well, her hubby came home last night from being over in the desert, so she has taken some time off.  I had to sub.  OMG.  Teaching it and taking it are two different things.  It literally kicked my butt.  I loved it.  Then, after Turbo I had to teach a Body Chizel class.  Whew!  I was so worn out last night.  I feel like if a steamroller ran over me it would really feel good :)  Just have to keep at it.  When am I going to get time to work on my Power90X.  I need to get this fat off so I can reveal my six-pack to the kids.  Oh well, whatever.  See what I mean?  What am I going to do?  Someone please help me.

Can’t Please Everyone!

I was having one for those days yesterday.  You know you have had them.  You just can’t seem to please people.  So, why do I even try.  I tell myself that forget it, I am tired of trying, but my conscience won’t let me.  I am right back where I just want to make people comfrontable and give them want they need not necessarily what they want.  Ughh!

So, yesterday I was waiting on some people to come pick up a “L” counter that was made in the new studio.  They can not take it out by carrying it out.  They actually have to take it apart.  They knew I was moving in at the beginning of the Month. They are just now getting to it.  I waited around on Monday for an hour and 1/2 for them to come only to find out that need a special drill bit or whatever to take it apart and that the person has another business and would not be able to get until later that everning.  I have class and it was a good one, then I finished moving from one studio to the new studio.  I had more stuff that I realized, which was in “Finally Moved In.”  I waited for them to show up and guess what no show.  I go home.  Yesterday they we suppose to come get it and I was up at the studio again, putting up the curtains to help keep the heat out, it helped just a little.  No one came.  I noticed she has on her window the new business of what she wants to use the counter for, but it ain’t going to happen unless she comes and gets the counter.

Okay, so in the new studio I have a little stereo and I have attached the speakers up on the wall above the mirrors so that the sound can project out which I thought my instructor would appreciate since she likes it loud.  Well, she mentioned or asks me if I could place on the back wall because she feels like the music in overpowering her or that she is competing with it.  What?  She has a loud enough voice.  Okay, turn the music down then.  That is a thought.  I mentioned to her that I will bring in the amp and she can bring in her mic and see if that works.  I had planned on that anyhow, since I was going to have to teach because her hubby got back from the desert.  Gee!  Then, later that evening, a customer mentioned to me that it is still hot in the place.  Well, you know what sweat a little bit, it helps the skin.  The window faces the west sun and man it is hot in there.  I have three fans in there already. 

I was already frustrated because earlier that evening I was suppose to teach a step with salsa class and no one came.  I just love to teach and get some cardio on and the step with salsa is really fun.  Most folks are just not coordinated enough they think.  They are really they just like to give up too fast.  What is with this generation. 

Oh well, I just keep pluggin on and things will pick up after the summer I know it will, I do have faith or else I would have never started the business and I would never have been able to do the things I am able to do.  :)

Finally Moved In:)

WOW, I have not worked so hard since I put blinds in for Colorado City Hospital.  Moving is tough you all.  You never really know how much stuff you have until you have to move it.

I finally got it all moved in on Monday night.  I stayed late after the 6:30 p.m. Body Chizel class. I still had to take the banner down, the net that held the stability balls, and move all of the modeling boxes and chairs that somehow I inherited.  Yhew! 

I bought some screen for the front window to help keep out the sun.  Well, it kept out the sun alright, but I could still feel the heat from the window.  I will just have to put an extension on the curtains that I bought and place them behind the screen to give it a little more added protection.  Thank God I know how to sew.  Thanks MOM.

I will have to buy some more curtain material or find some curtains on sale like I did for the front window at Lowe’s or Home Depot, to make the partition. 

I have to say, it is coming along Okay.  Now, if I can just get more people to come.  I know it will happen, I just have to have patience.  I am not a marketing person or salesperson, but every book I have read to help increase business all say that you have to turn into one.  I am just not like that.  Oh well, I just will have to survive on my personality.  Heck, can’t rely on good looks. :)  Everyone says that I look evil.  I can’t help it.  I was born part Indian.  They have a hard look to them.  Anyway, getting off the subject.

I just need to get a new Banner for up above the building so people can see it.  Everything is coming together.  I will be 60 years old before i  truly see my dream come true.  I guess I will be installing blinds until then too unless some University offers me a job I can’t refuse.  Hint, Hint.  MCM or ACU, okay even HSU.  I am still mad at them.

Starting Again!

Hello everyone,  started a new blog today.  My blog on this site will be about fitness, nutrition, and my journey of building my studio. 

I think it is very important to know different exercises and how your body works with the food you put into it.  I will try and get that info to you.

I own a small fitness studio in Abilene, Texas for women only.  My classes are so much fun and the ladies really make my day.  I get to meet new ladies all the time.  I do have my regulars and I love them so much.  They are what keeps me going and motivated.  I sure hope that I do that for them as well.

I am so very new to this blog thing, so be patient with me and I will see what the heck I am doing.
