American Heart Walk Today.
For those of you who really have a passion for fitness, I think the American Heart Walk Association is a great organization to be a part of. Today is the day for our event. I am so excited. They have choosen me to lead the warm-ups. Okay, so it is just a little task, but a chance to really get my name out there. My time to show how much I care about people and the way they chose to life their lives and hope that because they are participating in this walk to keep going. Don’t just do the walk and then that is it. This could be a start of a new person to take up exercising to help fight heart disease. The number one killer in America.
I chose to help live my life longer. I do all that I can to help others.
I shall return with pictures.
Is your Eyesight fuzzy?
I have noticed in the past year that my eyesight is deterioating fast. I work hard to try and not make that happen. I don’t know if it is cause I have not eaten enough carrots or it just maybe be the age thing. I am hoping it is the carrot thing.
Since, I have been fighting it, it got me searching for some corrective measures and I can upon this cool website www.pinhole-glasses.com. I have never seen glasses like this before. This is cool idea. It is recommended for people like me who sit at the computer most of the day. They say it can help people that are elderly. Individuals who may suffer from refractive eye disorders. Hmmmm! Oh and the best part is that they are cheap. Now, I paid over $400 for my Michael Kors. I know, I am crazy but they was what was recommended. I really wished I had know about pinhole glasses before I went and spent all that money.
If you are having these kinds of problems, I really suggest you go check out these cool pinhole eyeglasses. At this website they tell you how your eye is suppose to work and how these glasses can help correct the problem at a fraction of the normal cost for regular glasses. They also tell you the science behind these pinhole glasses, which is so interesting to me. I did not know that this type of glasses have been around to hundreds of years. Very good read and informative. They also explain the near sightedness and far sightedness. I always get those confused.
So, if you are having issues with your eyes, I do recommend going to this website of www.pinhole-glasses.com and really see if you might want to try them out. It is the natural alternative to prescription glasses. I think I will pick up a pair myself to have at the computer.
Happy Reading!
Aches and Pains Relief
I went to my massage therapist last Friday. She told me that I should really think about taking an Epsom Salt bath. I said “What?” “What is that?” She said it was to help relieve my aches and pains (or really my knots in my muscles) after a hard workout.
I teach class sometimes 4 times a day. Now, I have been lifting off and on since the 80’s. I know when I should layout. I don’t go extreme everything I teach a class. But, I do know that my body is craving for some relief. This is why I go to a massage therapist who can really get down and dirty and make me jump off the table when she hits the spot and diggs in. She says she is not doing anything hard. Right!
So, I go shopping for this Epsom salt stuff. I thought Bath and Body would have it, uh NO. But I did pick up some bath salts. The stress relief one with a nice spearmint spell. Very soothing.
Okay, so I told my hubby that he really needed to take a bath with this stuff. Last night, he decided to give it a shot. I was really shock, because the bathroom I think is the only place in the house beside the front living area that does not have a freakin TV. The man is obsessed with electronics. Always has been. Please everyroom. So much noise in the house sometimes I can even think.
He asked me if I wanted to get in after he got out. No, the whirlpool tub in not big enough for the both of us. I know what you were thinking. Would have been nice. Okay, back to my original thoughts.
So, you are asking what the heck can Epsom Salts do for me. OMG! This stuff is like duck tape. You can use it for anything.
Here is what I got off the Wikipedia. Epsom is Magnesium sulfate is a chemical compound containing magnesium and sulfate. Anhydrous magnesium sulfate is used as a drying agent. Since the anhydrous form is hygroscopic (readily absorbs water from the air) and therefore harder to weigh accurately, the hydrate is often preferred when preparing solutions, for example in medical preparations.
Magnesium sulfate is used as in bath salts, particularly in flotation therapy where high concentrations raise the bath water’s specific gravity, effectively making the body more buoyant.
Oral magnesium sulfate, or magnesium hydroxide, is commonly used as a saline laxative. Epsom salts are also available in a gel form for topical application in treating aches and pains.
In agriculture and gardening, magnesium sulfate is used to correct magnesium deficiency in soil (magnesium is an essential element in the chlorophyll molecule). It is most commonly applied to potted plants, or to magnesium-hungry crops, such as potatoes, roses, tomatoes, and peppers. The advantage of magnesium sulfate over other magnesium soil amendments (such as dolomitic lime) is its high solubility.
If you really want to read more about this you can go http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epsom_salts.
I truly did love it. I mixed the bath salts with the Epsom Salts to really get that spa feeling and get my muscles just to relax. I slept really good too.
Why not try it. You need to treat your body well as well as working it out hard.
Workout Was Amazing :)
I am in heaven right now. I went to Dallas for a Beachbody Team meeting and the guest was no other than the man himself Tony Horton. My heart was pounding like a little kid. I could not believe I was in the same room with Tony. How did this happen? I was extremely excited but tired from the drive down there.
I am just ecstatic.
There were quit a few people there. Close to 150 Will had mentioned. There was a guy named Nick who has been on the infomercials. There was Will and Kevin from Beachbody Corporate. I could not believe it.
Tony started off giving his speech in the Tony fashion about how he got where he is today. So glad Tony did not pursue his comedian career. He can joke all he wants on his DVD’s.
We had a coaches training. If any of you who are in the fitness industry or are just plain fitness enthusiasts and are not a BeachBody Coach, this is a company that is really about to take off. You can make some money on the side. This is best MLM company’s in fitness today and it is getting ready to explode. I suggest you get on board now. I am not lying. The American Diabetes Association is on board too. How about that. They just don’t put their stamp on just anything. This is truly a landmark deal. Beachbody is the first company to receive this stamp approval for their workout programs. If you are interested, please go to www.milliondollarbody.com and check it out. If you decide you want to be a coach and their should be no question, sign up under Pkayfit02. Get going while it is warm before it gets really hot.
Okay, enough of that, here in the Coaches Training Session, Tony was actually the one who spoke. He talked about 11 Laws of Fitness according to him. This was such a great training. If you sign up under me I can give those to you. These were great Laws and that can be applied to everyday life. It was amazing to listen to him. I was really tired but he really managed to keep me awake. After his speech he walked down the aisle and I was able to shake his hand. I will never wash that hand.
Now, was the time to workout people P90x style. Let me tell you it Rocked! Just like P90x and the one-on-one DVD. I busted a major sweat. Take a look. I had so much fun having Tony kick my butt.
Getting ready to rock.
jab, Cross, Hook, Turn people. Let’s get it right.
As you can see, my shirt was soaked liked I worked out or something. I had an awesome time.
Don’t forget to check out www.beachbody.com for the amazing workout programs and if you would like to order you can get a 25% discount if you become a coach at www.milliondollarbody.com
You can also play the game for free. Go check it out.
I received my next One-on-One DVD “Killer Abs” awesome like the others. Also, they sent me a sneak peak to Chalean Extreme. This is going to be another program that is going to rock. I love it.
Going to see Tony!
I am so excited about this event. I can even begin to tell you. I have a chance to go meet the one and only Tony Horton today in Dallas. It is about a 3 hour drive. I am worried about Hurricane Ike. But not too worried, when I set my mind to it I go and do it no matter the cost.
I debated about this for a couple of days and all my friends said go. There was a reason for the cancellation of the Personal Training Class. My Bunco friends will surely understand what a fitness fanatic I am. I know they support me.
I can’t wait for all the exciting news, plus I get to workout with Tony. Last year, I went and workout with Chalene Johnson and that was so much fun. Again, I drove about 3 hours to get there for a 1 hour workout but it was worth it because she signed my shoe. Yes. I got to workout with Leslie Bender a couple of weeks ago and that was great too. I have met Mindy Mylrea and what a little spit fire she is, she is soo great. I really love her too.
I will be back with an update and pictures of me and Tony. I know you are all jealous. Ha. Keep working out and keep working out hard.

American Heart Association Walk
I usually do this event but have not for the past couple of years. I don’t know why. Being in the fitness field I believe in this cause whole heartdly.
Here is what the American Heart Association is for:
The American Heart Association is committed to fighting heart disease and stroke and raising awareness of these diseases. As part of our mission, we focus on specific causes designed to help people achieve a heart-healthy lifestyle. Each of our cause initiatives reaches out to the public with resources and information to help them take positive action.
So, I am putting together a team under my company. I am pleading with all my bloggers to view my team page and find it in your heart to donate for this worthy cause.
You can donate online and the minimum is $25.00 I am trying to raise just $2,000. Tax deductible too, but the main reason is to help someone who has had a stroke or heart attack and be able to give them resources to help them live a better life. Won’t you help me.

It is just that simple.
Thank you ahead of time.
Calories Burned
I bought me a Heart Rate Monitor awhile back and really hadn’t used it. I noticed while I was teaching my light yoga class in Buffalo Gap that I couldn’t see my watch too much because my eyesight is not what it used to be because I find myself at the computer all the time anymore. :)
I switched wearing my regular watch to my Heart Rate Monitor watch so that I could see the numbers. ![]()
Well, since I have my heart rate monitor on I thought I would just see how many calories I am burning with all of my exercise classes that I teach. I have been stunned, but I use the heart monitor to my benefit as well.
I can usually burn about 750 calories on a great day just exercising or teaching classes.
One of the reason that I wear this monitor also, is because that it really keeps my accountable for what I eat afterwards. Have you ever noticed that people tend to eat way more than they burn after they work out. They have the mentality that since they have worked out that they can eat anything they want to. Okay, I know there are exceptions like Michael Phelps. He can eat everything under the sun. I am talking about us average folks who seem to just look at food and gain weight.
I also encourage my students and older folks to get a monitor so that they can see for themselves what they are burning and then they can adjust their meals accordingly. This has helped tremendously for many of them.
All I am saying is get yourself a great heart rate monitor and start keeping track of those calories actually burned during your workout. You will be amazed.
Don’t forget to workout to Power 90x, one-on-one with Tony, and the 10 minute Trainer with Tony.
He is the best. i love him.
Fitness Video Competition
I can not believe that the time is already here. I entered a fitness video contest about 7 weeks ago. I made it to the final round. Now, the time has come for the final voting. I am extremely nervous.
I am not sure how many of you know that I have my own women’s fitness studio. I love my job and hope to motivate and inspiring many more women to just get moving.
I named the video “No Excuses” because I have exercises that the stay at home individuals can do at home and don’t even need to get out of the chair. These are exercises that if a person is bound to a chair they can still help themselves out by staying toned. So, there are no excuses when it comes to execising or going to a gym.
I welcome you to go vote for me and here is the link: http://www.projectbreakout.com/fitness1/#page:1
I really need your help. Registering is really easy and you are not obligated to do anything but vote for me.
The winner will be announced next Monday.
Have a great week.
DallasMania Return
OMG! I am sooooo freakin sore in the legs, I can’t even walk. Worse than Tony’s Plyo legs, if you can believe that. Here is what I feel like.
I wish Matthew was here to carry me where I needed to go. We did some exercises with a slanted riser in which you can purchase from Spri Products. I have done lunges on the step before and they are brutle. Adding a slanted riser in the mix gives a whole different meaning to sore. We used resistant tubing as well and a double soreness. I loved every minute of it, because I can come home and use it on my college kids.
I attended a few lectures classes regarding muscles and intergration. AWESOME! These guys were brillant. Here is the link to check them out and you Personal Trainers if you are not already, you should sign up to become a member. Such valuable information that will make YOU the best at the game and give you many more clients than you can think of. Check these guys out at www.ptonthenet.com You should also think about purchasing the Functional intergrated Abdominal Training DVD. Chuck Wolf was the speaking and this guys knows what he is talking about. Such valuable information. I know I keep saying that, but he keeps you wanting more information. Take what he has and run with it, you will be amazed. Also, check any information from Michol Dalcourt. Now, professor at University San Diego. A transplant from Canada. Also amazing.
Just wanted to let you know that if you ever get a chance to go to any fitness conferences you should go. NCSA puts out some awesome trainings on sport specific. Check out their websites for exams and workshops. http://www.nsca-lift.org/
Now it is time to get to work. I have to practice my Zumba. That is alot of fun too.
DallasMania
Do, you ever wonder how Aerobic instructor stay up on their current new torture exercises? Well, some instructors, like myself, have found an organization called “SCWFitness” it’s where fitness professionals go to learn from the best in the world.
There are some of the most well known fitness presenters there that I have gotten the privilege of knowing. All the presenters are so approachable and you are welcome to ask questions on how to modify exercises for certain age groups and so on. I love going to this fitness conference. There are other fitness conferences around like IDEA, AAAI/ISMA, NSCA, and YogaFit. All the presenters are Ace Certified and AFAA certified or CEC’s or CEU providers which means they offer workshops for instructors who are certified in anything to keep up their certifications.
At the conference you can get certified in just about anything anymore. They have Zumba, 50+ and older adults, Kids in Motion, Pre-Natal/Post Natal and much more. I love it.
The one I am going to is in Dallas. Hence the name DallasMania. They are also in the Midwest, Florida, California, Boston area and several others in which I can’t think of right now.
If you are interested in getting certified in Personal Training or Group Exercise which are like the big Umbrellas of it all, you should check it out. You will meet plenty of new great people and just have a ball working out. Oh, by the way there is a big Expo in which you can shop. My favorite, I always spend too much money in there.
I believe that if you are a Physical Education Teacher that this is such a great opportunity to get new ideas for the kidos and to see what else is out there. Coaches too. They have strength and conditioning classes which are awesome. They have BOOTCAMP classes in which you could take back for some training ideas, the ideas are endless people. Get out there and try new things.
I will be out for a week starting tomorrow. Have fun doing whatever you are doing. Let’s get Fit.
“A year from now you’ll wish you had started today.”
