Getting All Wet
What? Getting all wet, what the heck is this crazy women talking about?
People, lets talk about swimming. Changing the variety of you exercises or your workout. Are you finding that your workout needs a little somethin, somethin?
I have always enjoyed swimming ever since my mom made me take lessons because we lived by the lake and a river. Lots of lives have been lost in the Kern Valley River.
Did you know that swimming is dated by 7,000 years ago in the Stone Ages. The front crawl or also known as the freestyle was originated from the Native American. Yeah! Swimming first became part of the Olympics in 1896.

Let’s talk about swimming as a way to exercise. Swimming uses the whole body to execute each stroke. Using swimming as a form of exercise can burn mega calories. Swimming or using water as an aerobic exercise is very gentle on the joints and bones. Swimming can improve posture and develop a strong lean physique, often called a “swimmer’s build.”
There are several different types of strokes that you can use for your swimming workouts. The first of course is the freestyle stroke or also known as the “Front Crawl.” It is the fastest of the other strokes. I was told that I have a beautiful stroke. That made me feel good. I could have really been a competitive swimmer. I have the build for it. Our little high school did not have a pool or a swim team, so I lost out. I did not even know you could swim competitive. Instead, I feel in love with basketball.
The second is ” The butterfly, (fly for short) is a swimming stroke swum on the breast, with both arms moving simultaneously. The butterfly kick was developed separately, and is also known as the “dolphin kick“.

Next is the
The breaststroke is a swimming style in which the swimmer is on their chest and the torso does not rotate. It is the most popular recreational style due to its stability and the ability to keep the head out of the water a large portion of the time. In most swimming classes, beginners learn either the breaststroke or the front crawl first. But in competitive swimming, the breaststroke is regarded as one of the most difficult strokes, requiring comparable endurance and leg strength to other strokes.

Let’s not forget the backstroke. I love doing the backstroke. I am actually really good at this. “Backstroke is an ancient style of swimming. It was the second stroke to be swum in competitions other than the front crawl. Backstroke was first inducted into the Olympics at 1900 Paris Olympics. Those Olympics included a 200 m backstroke race. The backstroke is also usually swum with bent arms underwater.”

And finally, the doggy paddle, which kids learn to do before they actually learn how to swim. The dog paddle or doggy paddle is a simple swimming style. It is characterized by the swimmer lying on his chest and moving his hands and legs alternately in a manner reminiscent of how dogs and other animals swim.[1]. It is effectively a “trot” in water, instead of land

As I was researching the strokes of swimming, I found like more strokes that are used but way too many for this article. If you would like to know more about swimming strokes, please go to wikipedia.org
With all of that being said, let’s go swimming and get all wet. OH and of course let’s go burn some calories and get a lean Physique. Yes, let’s get our Physique-a-licious body on. LOL

I’m Thirsty
The human body is made up of six elements which include oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorus and at least eighteen minerals are of importance in general human nutrition.
With this being said, there is one important element that is always forgotten. It is the “Forgotten Nutrient” or also called “Water”.
The human body is anywhere from 55% to 78% water depending on body size. Water is very essential to the body. It is very important for the body to function properly. It is recommended that to avoid dehydration the body requires between one and seven liters of this great nutrient. You can ingest water through foods and beverages.
Most people are in a dehydration states. Mositure is excreted daily by the mouth (talking), sweating (hopefully from exercise), urine (you should be going to the bathroom regularly), and crying (cause your broke). So, whether you realize it or not, are you replacing your water intake after all of these actions?
Drink your water will help in carrying the nutrients and oxygen to all cells in your body, cushion the joints in your body, protects, and cushions the vital organs, helps break down food, keeps your body temperature balanced and keeps your skin elastic.
As you can see, the nutrient called “Water” is very vital to your systems. You hopefully keep your car in good running order, why not always keep your body in good running order.
Just like keeping your car in good running order, your body will be physically and mentally alert with a good supply of water.
Listen to your body, drink the right amount of water and you will be own your way to a new you. Just like restoring a car to mint condition. You should treat your body the same. Drink the good natural stuff. Drink water during water break instead of tea or coffee.

Have a great day:) Drink your water.

Some people put blueberries, strawberries, bananas and other fruit to help. But, I have learned to eat this cereal just plain. I like it.
Since, I have starting eating this cereal, I have been regular lately and I feel so much better. I have energy in the mornings to teach my classes.
I would definitely recommend this cereal to start your day.
Kashi also has oatmeal cereal which I am going to try. Even though the weather is quit warm, I can still eat the warm cereal.
Why don’t you give it a try and do the body some good.
Extreme Burn Circuit 1
Yes, people, i finally got my Lean Program from Beachbody. Chalean Extreme is going to get me lean. This workout is going to get me PHYSIQUALICIOUS.

Well, I was so excited when the box was at my front door. It took a whole week. I felt like it was Christmas. I ripped open the box and I had to take my oldest daughter some dinner. I let my youngest drive so I could watch the first DVD in the truck on my way down to the hospital.
I did the first DVD last night. It was great and I felt great. I think I could have done more weight, but since it was the first time, I wanted to take it easy to see where I could increase. Next time I do this Circuit 1, which is next week on Monday I know I will add more weight. I added some extra cardio with some of Tony Horton’s cardio moves in between the exercises. This got the heart rate up. I loved it.

Now, today which is Tuesday, the program takes a day off. I have to teach Turbo Kick later so that will be my cardio. No way around that. I have to work on my diet. I really have to quit cheating. Eat cleaner.
So, let me ask you, what are you doing to stay healthier? What are you doing to be active? What are you eating?

Super Cardio
I just received my new DVD from Tony. It is called Super Cardio. I am so totally stoked on what he has in store for us.
Tony is one crazy individual but I do love his workouts. I did a cardio combo last night and I incorporated all the jabs, crosses, hooks, and uppercuts and then a touch of Turbos (Chalene Johnson) in there to raise the heart rate.
I love getting the heart rate up and working on the heart muscle. If you want your performance to improve you need to work that muscle too.
I will get back with you on the Cardio thing. I can’t wait to use it on my college students. They are going to die.
if you want to get in on Tony Horton’s one-on-one direct mail, sign-up to join the club.

Hundred Push-up
Well, I have been thinking about this for a while since, I had a young man visit my site and mentioned he was doing this. It looked very interesting. I am not good at push-ups at all. I can do the modified ones like all day but the standard push-ups seem really difficult. I have been working on my upper body in order to improve my push-ups.
So, today I decided I would jump into the challenge. This challenge is suppose to have you be able to do hundred push-ups in 6 weeks. What is it with these 6 weeks things. Okay, I printed out the test and took it.
I could only do 10, I really thought I could do more, but if I did it would have put me in a bracket that I know is too hard. So, 10 is good. More than I have ever before.
Now, not sure if you are suppose to wait to start the initial workout, so I decided to try this workout today. I started after I finished teaching my Body Chizel class. We had already done 20 push-ups in class, modified of course, and we did regular bench press and wide chest presses. So, what was I thinking when after class and everyone was gone, that I thought I could do these push-ups.
I thought I have better do them now because if I wait then I know I will not do them.
Guess, what I did the bracket I was suppose to and at the end I was suppose to max out at 5 but I did 6. yeah me!
I think I should be good for Wednesday. I should do these push-ups first thing in the morning when I am fresh and not after I already worked out. Then again, that is what I should. Well, I will mix it up and see what happens. It doen’t hurt to try.
Hey, if you are looking for a new challenge, come try the hundred push-up challenge with me. A small goal for the new year. Hey, now don’t forget about your eating-clean routine. Want those abs to show through then, you are going to have to eat-clean. NO more junk!
So, check out http://www.hundredpushups.com/ you can be added to the list with me. Pkayfit.
Good Luck. Let me know how you are doing. I will do the same. See you at the end of the week, I will let you know what happens.
Happy New Year
Can not believe that 2009 is upon me. It has been a crazy year. I am putting 2008 out the window and hope the Texas wind doesn’t bring it back. I am ready for a great 2009. I am tired on being broke and I am tired of being the same weight for the past 5 years. I can go down, but then my body likes to go back where it is confrontable. Well, I have news for the body. Next year in about 4 hours, I have something else in mind. I plan on making a plan and completing my P90x and the upgrade. Workout to the new Chalean Extreme Workout program. View a couple of more tapes, get my bio down for a company that is waiting for me to get my crap together, focus on marketing the studio more and beachbody stuff and the list goes on. This year I am not going to slack and let the days leave me behind.
With that being said, tomorrow I have the review on Tony’s holiday treat in which I watched the other day and I think tomorrow as a Post Holiday Recovery Workout I will do that one. Not too long of a workout.
I want to wish all of my followers a Happy New Year and let’s bring it for 2009.

Workout Was Amazing :)
I am in heaven right now. I went to Dallas for a Beachbody Team meeting and the guest was no other than the man himself Tony Horton. My heart was pounding like a little kid. I could not believe I was in the same room with Tony. How did this happen? I was extremely excited but tired from the drive down there.
I am just ecstatic.
There were quit a few people there. Close to 150 Will had mentioned. There was a guy named Nick who has been on the infomercials. There was Will and Kevin from Beachbody Corporate. I could not believe it.
Tony started off giving his speech in the Tony fashion about how he got where he is today. So glad Tony did not pursue his comedian career. He can joke all he wants on his DVD’s.
We had a coaches training. If any of you who are in the fitness industry or are just plain fitness enthusiasts and are not a BeachBody Coach, this is a company that is really about to take off. You can make some money on the side. This is best MLM company’s in fitness today and it is getting ready to explode. I suggest you get on board now. I am not lying. The American Diabetes Association is on board too. How about that. They just don’t put their stamp on just anything. This is truly a landmark deal. Beachbody is the first company to receive this stamp approval for their workout programs. If you are interested, please go to www.milliondollarbody.com and check it out. If you decide you want to be a coach and their should be no question, sign up under Pkayfit02. Get going while it is warm before it gets really hot.
Okay, enough of that, here in the Coaches Training Session, Tony was actually the one who spoke. He talked about 11 Laws of Fitness according to him. This was such a great training. If you sign up under me I can give those to you. These were great Laws and that can be applied to everyday life. It was amazing to listen to him. I was really tired but he really managed to keep me awake. After his speech he walked down the aisle and I was able to shake his hand. I will never wash that hand.
Now, was the time to workout people P90x style. Let me tell you it Rocked! Just like P90x and the one-on-one DVD. I busted a major sweat. Take a look. I had so much fun having Tony kick my butt.
Getting ready to rock.
jab, Cross, Hook, Turn people. Let’s get it right.
As you can see, my shirt was soaked liked I worked out or something. I had an awesome time.

I received my next One-on-One DVD “Killer Abs” awesome like the others. Also, they sent me a sneak peak to Chalean Extreme. This is going to be another program that is going to rock. I love it.
Going to see Tony!
I am so excited about this event. I can even begin to tell you. I have a chance to go meet the one and only Tony Horton today in Dallas. It is about a 3 hour drive. I am worried about Hurricane Ike. But not too worried, when I set my mind to it I go and do it no matter the cost.
I debated about this for a couple of days and all my friends said go. There was a reason for the cancellation of the Personal Training Class. My Bunco friends will surely understand what a fitness fanatic I am. I know they support me.
I can’t wait for all the exciting news, plus I get to workout with Tony. Last year, I went and workout with Chalene Johnson and that was so much fun. Again, I drove about 3 hours to get there for a 1 hour workout but it was worth it because she signed my shoe. Yes. I got to workout with Leslie Bender a couple of weeks ago and that was great too. I have met Mindy Mylrea and what a little spit fire she is, she is soo great. I really love her too.
I will be back with an update and pictures of me and Tony. I know you are all jealous. Ha. Keep working out and keep working out hard.

Calories Burned
I bought me a Heart Rate Monitor awhile back and really hadn’t used it. I noticed while I was teaching my light yoga class in Buffalo Gap that I couldn’t see my watch too much because my eyesight is not what it used to be because I find myself at the computer all the time anymore. :)
I switched wearing my regular watch to my Heart Rate Monitor watch so that I could see the numbers. ![]()
Well, since I have my heart rate monitor on I thought I would just see how many calories I am burning with all of my exercise classes that I teach. I have been stunned, but I use the heart monitor to my benefit as well.
I can usually burn about 750 calories on a great day just exercising or teaching classes.
One of the reason that I wear this monitor also, is because that it really keeps my accountable for what I eat afterwards. Have you ever noticed that people tend to eat way more than they burn after they work out. They have the mentality that since they have worked out that they can eat anything they want to. Okay, I know there are exceptions like Michael Phelps. He can eat everything under the sun. I am talking about us average folks who seem to just look at food and gain weight.
I also encourage my students and older folks to get a monitor so that they can see for themselves what they are burning and then they can adjust their meals accordingly. This has helped tremendously for many of them.
All I am saying is get yourself a great heart rate monitor and start keeping track of those calories actually burned during your workout. You will be amazed.
Don’t forget to workout to Power 90x, one-on-one with Tony, and the 10 minute Trainer with Tony.
He is the best. i love him.
